Hi all

I haven't reviewed our BT package since before lockdown and I've been paying for services we don't use.

Our internet service has been very reliable and the Wi-Fi good other than it doesn't stretch far into the garden as it's at the opposite side of the house to the router. I have Cat-5e cable running down a wall so almost all entertainment devices are on the wired network.

We only have FTTC available and aren't part of Openreach's map for any future rollout but we do have our own aerial.

Uno seem’s to be the cheapest at the moment for unlimited broadband and they have a list of routers https://www.uno.uk/equipment/ but it’s been a long time since I’ve been shopping for routers.

I read in another thread that if I want any future proofing for FTTP in the future my best bet might be to get an Openreach modem from an auction site and then buy a third party router ?

Also in order to maintain the ability to record free-view I'm thinking a Manhattan T2-R is the best option ?

Thanks in advance for the help

If you are otherwise happy with the router you have, it’s reasonably likely you will be happy with many of the other ISP supplied routers. If you are bothered about increasing Wi-Fi coverage at the end of the garden look at an external AP. Off the shelf generic Freeview+ is OK, but branded items tend to get better ongoing support/updates. Personally I would be getting something Linux based and running ViX or similar. I used to pipe FreeSAT/Freeview to the kids rooms via Plex with full PVR functionality as a Roku in each room worked better than a Freeview/SAT box, it also opens up Amazon Prime or Sky services if we got codes etc.
