Without eliminating the wireless, any ISP isn't going to listen if you start moaning about the speed you're getting. From the sounds of it your problem is that your connection's unstable - trying to eliminate your extension wiring would be a decent start, followed by checking your filters and trying a different modem.
Posting stats (attenuation, SNR margin, sync rate) would be useful too.
Long, probably poor quality, extension cable isn't the best idea when you're having a problem with an unstable connection...
