Was with BT when to do a switch over to another company few days later they cut my line phone them up and was told they would fix. this has been going on for 4 weeks, now Ive switch over to anther provider and my line works. I'm sick of BT they just cant seem to do anything right.

I switched from sky asdl to BT fttc last month, 1st activation date was 16th. They cut off sky adsl on 18th and have changed my activation date ~ 5 times, next one is set as 9th October. Needless to say I am not happy.

Hate BT

had such a terrible experience with them. Three months to get me an installation date, I cancelled in the end

Parents moved from Virgin to BT, and can't wait to go back

Chap in the office was the same, switched over to BT and ended up getting into a heated argument before finally getting them to cancel his contract so he could go back to his old provider

Everytime you ring up, you have to explain everything from the start, and all you ever get back is pre-scripted rubbish

I don't understand it either, who in their right mind would switch to BT if they had an the open to use VM? The speed difference is huge.

Are you sure FTTC is available in your area?

When we moved in our street there was no internet available as we had not been connected to the cabinet, took almost 6 months.

Anyway, our neighbours bought the house and arranged with BT to install the internet line etc. At no point was our neighbors aware that even ADSL wasn't available and BT was more than happy to accept the order. All BT did was keep pushing back the installation date.

I have no issues with BT at the moment really, the main problem I have is that they are continually upping the line rental costs to cover expenses like paying for football on the BT channels. I don't even watch TV :(

Recently had experience with Open Reach setting up a leased line for work.

February I put the order in and we still don't have it....

Bt and all the ones using bt are usually fixed very fast. VM when it breaks often leaves you without internet for weeks,
On top of that had issues of VM being unable to play youtube, despite speed tests giving 100mb speeds. And other such like issues.

A useful and insightful post, 9/10, would read again

BT are ****

When I moved to my new house took them 6 weeks to do a job that they promised would take a week. Them having customer service department is just a huge big troll as they are the most clueless, least helpful pack of window lickers I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I only got mine sorted in the end when a sky engineer (or some sky bloke as I was with sky) in the area popped round and actually diagnosed the problem (when BT still hadn't turned up) and he managed to get someone out somehow. If that sky bloke hadn't helped I still think I would probably be waiting now 18 month later.

That's typical for lease lines, normally due to Wayleave issues. In an old job, we used Virgin Media for lease lines - my worst installation was 9 months of wayleave delays!

BT sent me an email last Thursday telling me that I owed them money and had sent the debt off to a debt collecting agency. Even though I've been told by numerous departments that it had been cancelled.

This is more Openreach than BT I guess but I was due to upgrade to fibre on the 14th (this month). Something went wrong on that day and they told me there was a problem, and my new activation was the 16th. Come the 16th the fibre went active and all was good. BTs system didn't acknoeldge this and they kept messaging me telling me my new activation date was now the 22nd.

Come the 22nd I get home and guess what? No internet. Rang them up the following day and to be fair to them they acknowledged a fault and booked an engineer for the next day. The engineer turned up and informed me someone had switched my line around in the DSLAM and broke it.. I'm guessing undoing the original install.

Rang them up to politely complain about the installation fee on my bill due to these inconvenience and without question credited the £35 installation charge and another £10 on top. I wasn't even that fused to be fair :p.
