Anyone else get the email today saying its £2.50 a month more from Mid September AND another £3 more if you still want the paper bill!

This is the 2nd price rise in a year now & the service is getting way worse but no viable alternatives for me right now as Virgin Media is hit or miss due to internal network congestion issues they are stuck with.

I hope BT go bust soon the way they treat their customers is shocking & the forced line rental is just a scam

I'm just waiting for GigaClear to pull their fingers out of their arses and give me the fast fibre they've been laying for ages.
Year on year, BT have been hiking our prices. If I go with GC's 1-Gig connection I'll actually be paying less than I currently do for BT's 0.7-Meg one... and no, there is not a typo in that!! :(

Good luck hope GigaClear pull through for you. My BT has been dropping for almost 3 years now due to massive overcrowding issues in London I pay £60 a month & the speed keeps steadily dropping year on year by around 5-6Mbps. Funnily enough BT also reduce their minimum speed threshold charter by the same amount ………. so yep what a bunch of crooks in suits :(

Yes

If you want to leave and you're within your minimum contract term, you'll need to call us within 30 days from the date of this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days if you're switching to a new provider). We won't charge you for any increase in price during that time.

Presumably you can cancel all the services that are having a price increase - I'd assume it would affect the cost of a mobile contract if it was a price that relied on having broadband for example, I can't see why they'd force you to cancel every service though if you didn't want to.

Will have to look when I'm home if this has affected us.
it will affect you as the price rise is across the board from what i can see.

it was the straw that broke the camels back for me....always used BT simply due to not many alternatives where i live. but Talk Talk offering the same speed package for 25 quid a month including line rental and 90 quid cash back via topcash back meant it was time to pull the plug on BT (£52.49 a month currently)

didnt the CEO who is leaving say recently that they want to milk their existing customer base for more money than appeal at the cheaper end of the market?

Here in Jersey I used to pay £ 15.74 a month for 38mbit/s fibre with an 8mbit/s upload. I didn't need a landline either, at the beginning of 2017 they put the price up to £ 26.24 a month, it was still the best deal so I stayed with them.

It's why I recently left BT. I used my right to leave within the notice period of the letter and as of today I'm now with Plusnet. Same speeds but cheaper.

Yes I got that email today but i knew it was coming i read about it some time ago, I may contact them as I had several power cuts and dslam kicked in and it reduced my profile I was getting a download speed of 74.9 now its 55 and i know full well BT wont reset the profile unless there is a fault, I may move everything over to Plusnet.

How do I move to another supplier such as Plusnet. Do I cancel with BT then immediately order with Plusnet?
I would contact BT and tell them what your going to do then go along to Plusnet site and set it up from there Plusnet will transfer you over. That my take on it.

Do not cancel your existing service. The new provider do all the work - you just need to confirm with BT that you aren't in contract / they won't slap an early termination fee on your account etc. Then you place the order with e.g. Plusnet and tell them you're moving an existing service.

If you cancel then you'll have a ~2 week period with no service and might lose your landline number.

That makes sense thanks. I'll just contact BT then to ask the above and then order with Plusnet to let them do it all.

How it worked for me was I gave my notice, BT accepted this and said they would cancel my contract without paying a fee and that I had 20 days from that point to move to my new provider. I kept my landline number and my BT connection was live up until this morning then Plusnet confirmed my new connection was ready and all I had to do was plug router in.

I think I'm going to have to stick with BT and just re-contract at the new customer price rather than the crazy out-of-contract amount they want to charge. I need IPv6 connectivity which means BT or Sky because I don't fancy paying Zen prices.

Thanks! I can get a better speed and pay less with them.

Same here. I'm currently paying £37.99 for phone, 55Mb fibre & BT Sport but with my intro offers expiring and with the price hike, I'd be paying £70 odd a month from September. I can get the same package from Plusnet with up to 80Mb fibre for £41.99 for 18 months & get £95 cashback in the process
