Hi there

I have just got a wireless router and need advice with the settings.

Tried the normal username and password but i think it needs dns settings.

Anyone know what these are?

I have tried searching but not having any luck

Thanks!

BT broadband dont normally need a password as it uses the location of the phoneline to authenticate the user.

In terms of router settings I dont know, whenever I have to set a router up for someone I will just google the settings for said ISP

tbh it has a setup wizard so all you needed to do was add the above, if you have gone adsl2 then i'm lost. I honestly thought what i posted would work, sorry :(

Yeah even the setup wizard did not run. Do you think it could be conflicting with the current router in some way?

I have set one of these up before and it was as simple as you said. But Im a little stuck with this one.

BT does not need a user name, you can put what you like in, some routers have to have one just to keep the router "happy". If you cannot connect you may be looking in the wrong place for the cause. "broadband.user" is straight out of the home hub manual as an example to use. Just looked at mine, it is set to "[email protected]", hardly unique to me.

Ok I will try that later, thanks

Can you post what the settings are that you are using ? Maybe somebody will spot something.

As above, post up the current settings of the router. Also assume you've done the router's own self-diags program? It will indicate there if its connecting to the exchange.

These things are fixable thru a process of emlimination, so be sure to note down what you've tried before moving to the next theoretical fix.

Ok. The previous router is a BT Voyager 220V ADSL Voice Router.

When I try and setup the router it is not connecting. Tried all the settings with user names and such.

Any ideas?

I think it may be time to ring BT now like, I cant seem to understand how what we have all said hasnt worked :( I really would contact BT as tis would fix everything & if they get silly just say the homehub is broken. ask for your username & password for logging on & see if its any different..
