evening all.

i am doing a bit of research for my gf and her family.
they need to change their broadband supplier ( long story ) and are quite interested in the broadband phone thing ( from the adverts ).

as far as i can tell its £22.99 for the first 3 months, then £26.99 thereafter.

does this include line rental? and whats it like?

Yes, you pay line rental on top of that. We have Total Broadband, but we're on the cheapest package because we're poor. 2GB a month is serious rationing...

Anyway. The phone thing works well. We got the 2500V router from them for £25 and it's pretty good. Something the wireless drops, but that's pretty normal anyway.

So... it's quite good on the whole.

I would not recommend BT to anyone. Their customer services are absolutely awful. I spent 2 months trying to get broadband access with them and in the end I never got it!

Whenever I rang services (on hold for at least 30 mins each time) I was given mis-information, and lied to. I had to cancel after all I went through with them, and now am with Tiscali. They are soo much more helpful, (i'm not sure how they compare speed wise) and they offer unlimited broadband. (ATM its £9.99 for first three months, then 12.99 thereafter. Although as with BT you have to factor in line rental.)

Overall, do not get them to go with BT, they SUCK!

Just to let you know you have to pay for that phone thing you see on the adverts seperate.
i was lead to believe that if you went for the highest package you got the phone thingy for free.

Sorry but no, tiscali offer FAR better value than BT, and the service is fast and reliable.

I wasn't implying BT was decent (indeed, they've got their flaws too), but Tiscali, "fast and reliable"? You're having a laugh (and their users agree).

Although I do agree with you about the "fast a reliable" comment, for a normal net user they are a lot better value and their customer services are not a joke unlike BT's.

Erm, don't you need to get a line first before getting broadband?

Er, I didn't say you didn't?
I was stating that the price for BT Broadband didn't include the BT Option [1-4]...

You're an exception then.
