Hi,

its a 1 yr old bt wireless router i have...

trying to connect it to my pc using a rj45 first, my isp is AOL...then i will connect wirelessly

can I do it?

do i need to unlock the bt wireless router to change the connection settings to AOL? or should it connect easily?

please advise

cheers!!

yes you will need to change the connection settings to aol. the only bit you need to change is the connection username/password.

depending on where the router came from, it might need a firmware flash to unlock it. what model is it?

not sure atm, its a friends, hes gonna let me know shortly...

where can i find the firmware flash to unlock it if req??

thanks for your help so far marc its most appreciated..

well i got my 2500v firmware from here -

http://www.voyager.bt.com/firmware_upgrades/btvoyager-one-click-fw-update

you need to copy/paste the links into a new browser window. and yes you'll see multiple versions - i don't really know the difference between. i just picked and got lucky. :p

you'll need the router admin/password. browse to http://192.168.1.1 to access the config - it's under advanced>system>upgrade and then browse to the file you downloaded.

DISCLAIMER: don't blame me if you brick it. :D

i've been using my unlocked BT router on entanet for months now and it does the job well. :)
