Hi guys, moving into my first (new build) home in a few months, not sure exactly when.

One thing I'll be doing is signing up for BT Infinity. My question is do I sign up for BT's TV package or not? I understand they have the Vision+ box or BT branded YouView box - which is best?

My alternative is do I buy a BT YouView box if this is best from the rainforest for £160? Not sure what's the best way with this if it's worth the extra £6 p/mo to do it through BT.

Lastly, what connection do the boxes use? Is it a coaxial TV aerial cable? And does it have 2 or 1? Sorry slight noob with this as it isn't my strong point.

Cheers & Happy New Year!

Yeah I have coaxial, Hdmi, power and ethernet plugged in (youview). I was going to get a pvr anyway but I was in the market at the time they announced bt sport so I went for that and saved a few quid in the process as it worked out a bit cheaper than buying it out right at the time.

As for whether it's worth buying a youview box outright depends on what TV package you go for I guess. If you cancel after 12 months the box is yours to keep and will still work.

The aerial picks up freeview channels and the ethernet is for on demand, BT sport and other channels on top of the standard freeview channels. That means they are actually delivered over IP TV.

I'm not sure what you mean by 2 or 1 and I'm afraid I have no experience with the vision+ box

Thanks Uhtred, by the 2 or 1 I mean does the YouView box require 1 or 2 coaxial inputs?

Similar to the Sky and Virgin TV boxes which use 2 or 3 so they can record multiple programmes.

1 input and 1 bypass (I'm not sure that is the correct term)

With the one input you can record 2 and playback at the same time.

The bypass goes to my TV which also has freeview built in so I can actually watch another channel on top of two recording on the youview.

Edit - worth checking the new build includes an aerial

Just checked the back of my current Sky+ box and it has 2 coaxial inputs both cabled up going out to the sat dish on the roof.

I've checked already and they fit an aerial input on a faceplate, I'm just wondering whether to bug them and change it to a double faceplate. Think I will just for the sake of it.

I also just wanted to check whatever aerial input they provide is the correct coaxial one I need for the likes of YouView or Sky.
