*** BTCC Begins, Sunday 5th April 09. ***

Whoa. Holy thread revival Batman...

Can this be moved to the 'Motorsport Section' please mods.

So another year of BTCC is upon us. Who is on your list to win the Title, could it be Plato's year or maybe Chilton (Lol)

http://www.btcc.net/html/home.php

Im struggling to find any info of who is driving for which team at the moment, I think Neal is back with Honda though which is nice.

[[EDIT]] just realised the title needs changing and then all the info on page 1 is wrong etc etc.

Um. Can we lock the thread and I'll start a new one soon.

Thruxton is my nearest circuit at only 1hr away. You see i do enjoy watching the BTCC but i also like the coverage on ITV4. Im not sure im going to go this year, with birthday's etc coming up, i could do with the £22+.

Hondas with manufacturer backing and no Gio?

Nope, which is really annoying. Have a look above though, no announced drivers for the 888 Vectra's, could be a suprise coming maybe ?

Turkington in one hopefully.

Just found this, its quite gutting really...

Belfast Telegraph said:
Colin Turkington has become the latest motorsport victim of the economic recession.

The Portadown driver was the first Northern Ireland winner of the prestigious British Touring Car Championship title last year, but he will not be back to defend his crown.

With the start the new season just two weeks away he has admitted defeat in the hunt for funding for his 2010 campaign.

Continued here ..... http://tiny.cc/vig9g

Don't discount Matt Jackson back in a BM. Looks set to be a good season, just hope that Turkington gets the chance to defend his title.

Yeah good point, he could be a potent force. I cant wait for it to start. Im gutted a have plans for the weekend it on, I could happily sit there for 6 hours and watch some quality racing. Just hop turk finds a way back........i mean he's defending his title ffs.

Hmmm, maybe John Cleland and Gabriele Tarquini are set for a return. Imagine how awesome that would be, alothough they are probably about 50 odd now.

I have a real good feeling about this year, i think it could be really close between a few drivers, i cant wait to see next weekends race, lets hope its exciting.

I may be tempted to go through my BTCC dvd's i have before the season starts. I got all the old VHS ones on DVD now.

*runs off to find them*

18 hours to go until the first action at Thruxton and still no news from 888 re its 'top name' driver. All should be revealed today..................

I have got the 1993-1999 VHS tapes put on to DVD and over the last couple of weeks I am gradually watching them. I have to say that the racing then was fantastic, the BTCC was full of characters and some superb nose-to-tail racing. Seems a long way off now......

I will probably put those VHS tapes on here soon, if its allowed.

Nice one, have a good weekend. Get some pics on here if its allowed. Oh and for extra kudos, we need a touring car driver (a decent one) to hold up a OcUK sign (or just a bit of paper).

Are you up to it :-)

I could have sworn I saw Alan Gow driving a Ferrari F40 in Dorset today. Was driving along the duel carriage way and past me, naturally I had the window open.

Just a quick heads up for people.

Today is the last race in the current championship. With 4 drivers in with a chance to win the BTCC championship.

Coverage starts on ITV4 from 10:30-18:30. It could be a classic today.

* could a mod rename the thread title to " The Official BTCC Thread" or something along those lines, many thanks"
