Budget BBQ Smoker

As long as it's big enough and has controllable air vents. As you waste half the space with indirect cooking and if it's to small, meat will be to close to the coal.

You can always drill more holes in the BBQ :)

In the past I've managed to get by with a really rubbish BBQ where I simply left the lid slightly askew and put some tinfoil around some of the gaps. It still made delicious pulled pork.

I bought this a few weeks ago, it did a great job of my lamb loin :D

I had one of them it was pure ****, no temperature control on it as it fitted together so badly air gaps just everywhere.
The loin however looks good.

strange, mine works fine, got a nice steady 225°F when i used it, cooked them loins for 4 hours with oak chips, tasted delicios, no pics of finished article though. I'll be sure to take pics next time i use it, i bought some cherry wood and beech woodchips to try, going to soak some in a dark russian stout from work.

Those loins look great, definitely shows us the finished product :D
It's a shame that there doesn't appear to be any consistency with the smokers online though as if I knew I could get one that works as well as yours I'd buy it right now. Also I too am wondering about the ASDA BBQ smoker as my local shop has one at the same price as the Tesco barrel BBQ :)
