thanks guys...just need to get a cable...any suggestions as where to get one

just another thing...just bought the cougar immersa headset...will the mic still work through a dac

No, it's output only, so you would need to plug the mic into the motherboard / sound card

You'll need to use the adaptor to split the 4 pole to two 3 pole plugs, then you can connect the headphone to the DAC/Amp and the mic to the motherboard / sound card input.

so it is doable...the cable i need is it a optical toslink cable?

What is doable?

You connect the SMSL to the PC via an SPDIF optical (toslink) cable.
You use an adaptor (supplied) to split the headphone and mic sides of your headset.
You plug the headphones side into the SMSL and the mic side into your motherboard mic input.

Because i had to use a splitter i wasnt sure the mic would work but after what you said i thought it was doable....anyway i just ordered a cable and the dac and it will be here saturday
