Budget expanded for my new build, advice needed

I'd spend less on the motherboard and more on the PSU.

With the way prices are 2x8GB is worth considering for the memory.

I'm not sure I'd spend that much on a network cable either, it isn't even anti-snag. :p

Thanks Breman, like I mentioned I have room in my budget, I set out with £1300 in mind but with my knowledge I cant spend it, I was thinking about going for 16gb ram too possibly.

What PSU would you recommend? Is the cooler I chose upto the job too as I will be overclocking.

the joys of having people who know what they're on about :) I'd be lost without you guys :)

If anyone can spec me a better build for my money then please do, I have £1300 to spend solely on a PC and want the best possible system I can get for my money, the PC is going to be solely for gaming on and I require everything in my original basket.

The outcome of this thread will be my final order when I pickup the phone (unless the guys in store have anything on offer that would be a suitable alternative at the time)

And your entirely right, nothing has to be pretty apart from the case itself which I think the Shinobi is and also nicely priced and highly rated too :)

Thanks, this looks great, is that a bit overkill for just a keyboard though  is it not worth me spending a bit less and putting the saving towards a better cooler or PSU and extra ram or possibly all 3 of those?

I'm clueless about headsets too, despite the review's I'm a little bit iffy on the fact its USB rather than old fashioned 3.5 mm jack's for audio and microphone  but in the same breath from what I've heard it's a good set that works well, more research is needed :)

If you want a cheaper gaming keyboard, get a Sidewinder X4.

Cooler is OK, should give you 4.4GHz. As is the PSU. Won't do crossfire, but being there, I'm really not a fan of crossfire for just regular gaming. Maybe 2x8GB RAM (same memory). I'd probably change it to Corsair XMS / HyperX with low profile heatsinks for compatibility with coolers.

Is that a better quality RAM to go for then?

And I think I will go for a cheaper keyboard, dont think I can justify that money on one when I feel it could be put to a better cause.

Do OC stock the Sidewinder X4?? I cant seem to find it on the website?

I would get the Sidewinder X4, but it's not available on OcUK anymore. I've put 16GB and a better cooler. It's entirely up to you :)

The motherboard went up in price. This one is quite nice. The UD3H is a more enthusiast board, if you are looking at overclocking. A better match for the big cooler anyway.

If you like big coolers, the SilverArrow SB-E is the same price range (marginally better performance). Both will need low profile ram to fit under the fan.

Quality isn't a problem, but the little plastic heatsinks are for large coolers.

You can get a Z77X-D3H, which is cheaper, and will overclock OK. Then you can get a cheaper cooler as well.

And a bitfenix Shinobi if you want, but you will have to change the graphics card as this one is too big for the case.

That last build looks near perfect :) thanks a lot for your advice, I'm near clueless with components, its all new to me and this is my first build :)

Price isn't the issue at all, I'm willing to spend every penny of my £1300 budget on this machine.

And I want to keep temperatures as low as possible for the long gaming sessions so want a cooler to work well and not just "cope" as such :)

How much did the price of the mobo go up by?

bout £20.

ah still in budget then :) your build will be the one I go for, unless when I place the order some other bits are on offer, But your original MOBO with the changes to cooler etc in the second build, and that case you spec'd looks really nice too.

Thanks for the advice and help :)

yeah, I like the P280 (I got one). I prefer the R4 for the money but it's not in stock. May need a 8 pin CPU power extender, my AX850 struggle to reach the top of the motherboard, had to squeeze the cable behind the motherboard.

In fairness, I would think you'll be fine on a 7950, but it's your money (and who am I to argue).

just post your final bits to be sure (shopping tools in my sig), but should be all right.
