Budget gaming pc for under £400

Out of the two builds Danny and Stulid gave, which one would perform better? And is the GTX 760 better than a 270x? Thanks again.

760 vs 270X - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1038?vs=1043

But you want to play Watch Dogs and Nvidia win in that game as my Guru3D link I gave shows.

A 4670 is faster, but cant be overclocked and the case and board seem to be the cheapest items available to allow an i5 to fit within budget.

Heres one more,

The Zalman Z3 plus is a great case and comes with four pre installed fans.

The NZXT is also made by Superflower.

So white+Black and not many compromises:)

Like Stu said, an Intel build for that budget performs better in one way/s, and an AMD build for that budget performs better in another way/s. It's all about what you value most. I did go for a mobo that has USB 3 for the front ports on the case, there are some even cheaper without them. But it is basic yes, as is the case (though you effectively end up with three fans for that price - 2 case fans and PSU in exhaust, plus the possibility of adding 2 x 120mm fans on the side panel). I do prefer the looks of the black/gold BitFenix Neox though, and feel it's a better case, but again it's all a question of what to sacrifice to gain more in another area. The Zalman case Stu just specced is brill for the money, as well.

But do you have a case you can keep? Because then you're in reach of an i5 "K" chip and a Z87/Z97 for overclocking. Not an aftermarket cooler... but that could come later.

I don't have a case unfortunately, my case has fallen apart. I'm going to be purchasing everything tomorrow, still a bit undecided on fx-6300 or i5-4670 and also wish I could squeeze in a r9 280 or 770. But not sure if it's possible with £500 budget. I noticed my old hard drive was running extremely hot, not sure if it's on the way out. Thanks for the replies guys.

The weekly offers change tomorrow. They haven't been especially good this week for a budget like yours, so wait to see the new ones (changes around mid-day). Might be possible to put something even better together.

Yep it would, but I would spend the extra £10 and get the msi gaming. Vtx are the budget version of powercolour and would have cheaper components.

Switched the RAM like you suggested, how's this looking? Still undecided on everything to be honest.. it's either stick with this, or go for an i5 build but with a 270x or or lower GPU. I just don't know what would perform better.

The secret with AM3+ boards is that they really do need to have VRM heatsinks (those things around the CPU socket that keep the power to the CPU cool) otherwise you are at risk of "throttling" the CPU, i.E it will slow its clock speed down when the going gets tough.

That Particular board has no VRM cooling.

Well that depends on what games you intend on playing. Also poor choice of motherboard as it has no VRM heatsinks.

I just chose that one, because the rest suggested were out of stock. Can you guys recommended another for a similar price?

I plan on playing Watch dogs, vindictus, skyrim, and anything 'new' if you know what I mean :p.
