Thanks, just to make it crystal, other than sata 3, what makes it so much better in your opinion...bearing in mind the extra expense.
Well you said you wanted him to have an i5 but that's out of the budget now but if we spec the system right you can upgrade the CPU later. Much later once the i5Ks are going secondhand cheap enough perhaps?
The K edition CPUs have a better IGP and are multiplier unlocked i.e Overclockable. You can't overclock on the H61 mobos you need a Z series.
As i explained above. The Z series can run the RAM at 1600mhz, it allows overclocking of K series CPUs. Most of the mobos come with lucidMVP which can switch between the IGP and GPU depending on what's needed to save power. During gaming the IGP can boost the GPU. You get USB3 and SataIII obviously......something like THIS is an ideal entry level mobo. You might have noticed I used it in my very first spec and it has a few quid shaved off it this week.
