CPU:
Intel Sandybridge i7-2600k
PSU:
CiT 750W Power Supply Unit with PSU and Dual 12V Rails - Black Edition
CPU Cooler:

Any advice / input appreciated! Thanks

Hi,

What is your budget?

Avoid that power supply, get a good quality unit (which depends on what graphics card you plan to buy?).

Is this for gaming mainly? If so an i5 3570K is your best bet, e.g.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £173.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £104.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) £92.99
1 x OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £44.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £41.99

About £700 for the system if I can. Excluding the GPU. What PSU would you recommend that would not upset the budget too much?

This PSU will run nearly anything. What sort of budget for the GPU? Will you ever crossfire/SLI? This affects motherboard/PSU choice.

Either way get the 580 while its dirt cheap, I wish they were on offer when I was buying my GPU :( Would love to run 580 at the price of 560 ti

3570K Will do fine for gaming for today, its pretty much improved 2500K, 3770K is improved 2600/2700K... Get 3770K if you want future proofing, one day games should utilize hyperthreads...

Decided on the following but going to use my existing graphics card and HDD for the time being as I can only afford about £600 this month.

Got a case sorted from Amazon as I had some vouchers :).

Not a problem :)

You might also wanna go for the retail CPU. Extra warranty (3yrs), stock cooler (spare), nice box - generally worth more when reselling.
