Budget machine (no gaming)

i stand by my recommendation that for basic office use such as word-processing, internet and youtubing, a pentium dual core is more than sufficient - especially when paired with a fast ssd.
I disagree based on my experience but it's going to depend on individual setups I guess. The other problem is you really need 8 GiB of RAM these days and that's really expensive right now. If I had to choose between 2c/2t + 8 GiB RAM and 2c/4t + 4 GiB RAM, I'd probably choose the former.

If i were you i'd ask for a poll before spending any money :)

i3 or dual core for office tasks?
G4560...but it's never in stock. If the OP is willing to buy from elsewhere then that's still the best option IMO. Only a little more than his G4400 configuration but with SMT. :)

yeah. personally my laptop from 2008 has a core 2 duo t9400, 8gb ram and a 256gb ssd, and as said before, runs absolutely fine with light games too. with respect to responsiveness whilst doing light tasks, there's no appreciable difference to my desktop running a 3770k, 16gb ram and a 1tb ssd.
imo the ram and ssd makes more difference to the user experience if only being used for light stuff.
