You're basically paying for the OS.

MissChief, I was doubter until I used them heavily at work.

Whilst it will never offset the initial high price, the low power usage of them is a big plus point.

the problem with Synology is their hardware is over priced. I love the Synology interface and after realising my mistake of buying one, I have now bought a HP Microserver which is currently £119.99 after cashback, if you google it you'll find it as OCUK don't stock them.

Once you have that, install XPEnology and you have yourself a high spec synology NAS
