Bugbear kickstarter page for the Next Car Game is now live.

I don't like their pledges tbh... doesn't seem much incentive get people backing... i'd have thought a free bonus car should be standard as way of a thanks for the support

i did say as 'standard' free car

i am of the opinion a free car is more like a pre-order bonus. i think its not asking for much to offer the free car as part of the first game package, not just the more expensive one. Same for early entry... it's beta for christ sake and without the backers that do back the game (whether $20 or $40) there would be no beta or game.

Is it too much to ask that a little thanks to go back to the backers and be rewarded with these little perks... if not, i'd rather wait it out for it to be release and see the reviews before deciding, and then maybe even wait for a sale to get it cheap as there is no benefit to backing.

Always a dilemma I think for kickstarters (the tiering). Carmageddon Reincarnation was a good example of how to do it right, you didn't need to spend a fortune to feel like you were getting a bit extra.

That said, I wouldn't expect a $20 tier (which is what, £13 ish) to come with much more than a basic digital copy of the game plus maybe some other random digital tat. If they start dishing out free cars etc as 'standard' then there'd be little incentive for people to go to the higher tiers. I mean for me personally, a free car isn't going to be a dealbreaker, if I wasn't prepared to pay $20 for the game then it's not like a free car is going to tip me over the edge. I'd say the biggest disappointment would be the $30 tier, granting early access and wallpapers which are basically useless once the game is formally released.

The two big reasons I support kickstarter for Bugbear "Next Car Game" and Stainless "Carmageddon Reincarnation" is so they could give us 2 good PC games without the a publisher getting in the way and force Devs to release game before it ready. We have seen publishers do this to many times over the last few years!

And I want to be part of the alpha/beta test process to make sure Devs are headed down the right path. If Codemasters would have let GRID 1 gamers beta test GRID 2, would GRID 2 online be so screwed up that online is a ghost town after 5 months from release?

I don't do kickstarter for the rewards, I don't do pre-orders for the bonuses. I'm very leery of doing pre-orders these days! Codemasters could not bribe me to pre-order GRID 2 with the offer of giving PC players all 4 pre-order bonuses ( cars and track variations ). Consoles player only got 1 or 2 bonuses. I wanted to see a demo first. I ended up getting GRID 2 a couple months later during a Steam summer sell.
