I want to build a faster rig for my GF house

I was thinking of

cpu.jpg
to go along with a spare raptor 75gb harddrive and apg 7300 gt GFX 512mb

or should i go for a core 2 rig with a (7300LE 128MB DDR2 card) I have both cards. Cant seem to find agp cheap core 2 mobos.

Its mainly for surfing and playing wow

well if its for surfing and wow i think the gt card would be better for you becaue of wow. allthough it aint the latest graphics when you get in a battle ground with 80 people it really tests a gfx setup.

The cheapest (and only I think) AGP Core2Duo motherboard you can get from here is the ASRock 4CoreDual, some limited overclocking is possible on them but the FSB tends to top out at ~280-290mhz so even with an E2180 you are limited to around 2.85ghz.

It might be worth considering selling off the Raptor to free up a bit of cash to put towards the system overall and just buying another hard drive. I don't know what WoW benefits most from though so maybe the extra speed of the hard drive would help more than an overall faster PC.

what would be the faster out of the box cpu the E2180 or 5000+?

That mobo with both agp and pci would be prefect

At stock speeds I think the X2 would be a little bit faster although that would be quite easy to overcome with a bit of overclocking. However you should also note that the CPU you have selected there is OEM which means you need to add a heatsink to your order if you don't already have one. :)
