Car (the one I still haven't posted pics of) has gone in for an oil service and a general check over as its running a bit lumpy and there is a nasty diesel smell in the cabin sometimes...

Anyway. Oil service done - fine.

Cabin smell: looks like one of the injectors is leaking so the car needs to stay in over night while all 6 chambers are drained and dried.
Drop links or dodgy injector rail or even a dodgy injector... anyone have any idea on costs to fix those?

Hoping that anything wrong is covered by the RAC warrenty, but expecting it not to be as most warrenties are pants!
 
Welcome to the world of cheap x30d's. Told you to buy a 330i ;)

The warranty should cover it unless the mileage is high in which case most warranties will expect a contribution from yourself.
 
Yeah, its 120k ish. The warrenty didnt state anything to do with mileage, just valid date and top value (£750 (most it will do)).

Thankfully don't need the car at the moment, so its ok being in the garage!
 
Sounds like bad news. I seem to remember reading that the injectors were one of the potential key issues with the 330d and that replacements were £300 each. That's one of the reasons why I bought a petrol.

Suprisingly less than the standard warranties than i've had on other cars.

Not wrong about the injectors :( garage reckons they should be covered though. Thankfully the work is being done by an indy rather than main dealer :)
 
Yeah lumpy running will probably be injectors. Anywhere with a diagnostics machine should be able to diagnose which one is playing up.

Injectors should last well over 100k (mine are original and running fine at 135k) so you shouldn't have to change them ever again.
 
would have thought a bmw specialist would have a diagnostics machine, but i didnt ask before hand.
 
thought (and hoped) it would be one of the droplinks (after it was mentioned to me on another forum). Will have to wait and see. Atleast the oil service went fine!
Looks like I will ahve to put off the auto box fluid change until Jan though. Never mind :]
 
yeah, direct from BMW or from somewhere like GSF will be a significant difference I would have thought :]

indeed, just like a bloody oil service. BMW want crazy money for it, most of which is just the cost of oil. If i was going to get it done by BMW then i would insist on providing my own oil, would save a packet :D
