Bugger: 330d issues

indeed, just like a bloody oil service. BMW want crazy money for it, most of which is just the cost of oil. If i was going to get it done by BMW then i would insist on providing my own oil, would save a packet :D

I've walked away from BMW with an oil service stamp for £90 before - taking my own oil.

ahh poo. good news and bad.............

the diesel link was a split in a tube, cheap to fix - good news
the smoke on start up is oil in one of the filters, filter is cheap to replace - good news
running lumpy will be to do with dodgy injector, garage doesnt have a diagnostic machine and recommending ultrasonic cleaning.. of all 6 - bad news (around £1k of work apparently)

Will pick the car up later this afternoon and take it for a run (need to drive to london and back, shouldnt be an issue being a touch lumpy if the problem is still apparent after the dring of the chamber and the new pipe).

Tomorrow will drop it to a BMW place to stick it on a diag machine to see which injector is bad, then get onto somewhere else to purchase new injector (if needed).

Potentially the injector wont be covered by the warranty, so my initial 'extra work fund' will be almost drained. Ah well, it was going to be spent at some point :D

I've just run this thread through Excel and it's come up with the following formula: -

BMW = £
Diesel = £
BMW + Diesel = ££ + LOL & Go to 10.

10 - LOL.

I'd buy a set of injectors and go someplace cheap to get the re-coded.

Lies!

No goto 10 statement in excel!

A grand?

hahaha

yeah, that was with a shed load of labour. better to buy new injectors and get a warranty on them surely!
though, its running more than fine now.... except for a new problem.... which i think might be turbo related, also some odd noise when turning hard right that wasnt there before it went into the garage... going back tomorrow to be looked at.

Odd really, its not lumpy at all now.

The issue for the diesel smell was the drop links into one of the injectors, tube replaced and all fine. Filter replaced and all good.

Don't worry I just calculated that it will only take about 50,000 to miles to make back the repair cost in fuel savings.

If i had the injectors done then it would make buying a diesel completely pointless haha. shouldnt need it now though, unless it takes another turn for the worst!

Anyway, work completed:

Oil Service (£130)
New random filter near crankcase (~£40)
New tube for drop link (~£30)
1 hour labour (~£50)

= £306.99 (inc vat).
