Looking to build something similar to below, however I'm unsure whether to get something like a 2080ti (or 1080ti) with a gsync monitor or a Vega 64 (given the deals) and freesync monitor. Will be wanting a 27" 1440p/144+Hz IPS.

Will be playing everything from Dota to Doom, do you guys think the at least >800GBP premium for nvidia+gsync combo would be worth it? I guess its perhaps more a question for two weeks time when benchmarks are out (Also conscious of wanting to support competition in the market and freesync over gsync)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,788.02 (includes shipping: £14.10)

nvidia option

Would forget that EVGA PSU.
You can get 80+ Platinum model from Seasonic for same price:

Or save £20 in 80+ Gold

On graphics side in long term expensive G-Sync is certainly question mark.
Intel certainly has big enough bank account that if they truly want they can certainly make some splash on graphics card markets in couple years.
And side on which they are in variable refresh rate tech is already known.
Also latest news of GlobalFoundries stopping 7nm development with AMD moving all 7nm production to TSMC has confirmed AMD isn't deserting graphics card.

But no matter which maker I certainly wouldn't pay that much for graphics card!

32GB RAM for gaming? And a 2700x? Seems overkill.

Sweet build though
OP's initial spec. just speccing a cheaper 8pack matched set (rather than the 2x16gb sets in OP's post)
2700x + x470 taichi for XFR2 + PBO - relatively fuss free gaming - if the IMC can support the RAM. lol

@Purdy able to wait till week 40 of this calender year ? Seems you've got a healthy budget and z390 might be up your street. Z370 isn't a Coffeelake Chipset , z390 is etc

I can but not particularly wanting to get Intel, is it likely to be streets ahead of the 2700x?

Honestly not that informed on what I’m doing but I thought that ram didn’t match the AM4 boards

It should do. Reason is that x470 is dual channel so most will only run 2 sticks at a time, whereas x399 is quad channel, hence requiring 4 sticks.
If you want to save some money, 16gb is sufficient currently, and adding ram in the future is as easy as dropping them into the slots. Nothing major required

save some cash

if your not running system for media creation - i.e 4k editing or plan to recreate mods/run multiple mods on a game then 16gb is plenty ! Only game i've played that has used 24GB of ram so far is Cities skylines with WHOLE map uplocked and almost every model under the sun activated

any custom card like Trio/Strix/Amp Extreme and Aorus (both latter aren't released yet) will take slightly longer as they aren't reference PCB)

heres the case @tamzzy linked in its glory

up top is custom AIO with 54mm thick rad , so thing can take a lot . House 9 fans . Eisbaer LT would be a damn good match for its pricing

Cheers, I’m not sure if I’m keen on curved and I’m sure the HDR isn’t great but that Freesync ranger looks good and 1ms VA seems a nice middle ground moving from a 1ms TN. Definitely will consider

Q Dot screen, would pick any HDR monitor no matter how little its range over non HDR . to be honest, no idea why 1080p HDR monitors havent been rolled out yet , rather have HDR10 then 1440p/4k any day personally

silent , powerful, tier 1 psu , UK RMA and fans are 2 for 3!
1.48TB worth of SSD too :D
difference in Silent loop Vs eisbaer LT- made by alphacool but SL has 30mm rad vs 25mm and better fans

RTX 2070 and Intel 9th gen rolls out week 40 October - i think for 2070 as well . 9700k looks attractive as will be 8 core but soldered and will do 5.4ghz+ under water . personally 9900k 8 core/16 thread not worth it for pure gaming

if you want newer x470 board, Aorus 7 has best on board audio and wifi - run my 8 pack 4000hz ram at 3700hz
