Build advice - Mini iTX build

Scythe Shuriken or Big Shurkien 2 comes with their own backplate.
It will need to be trimmed though (only minor compared to a stock AMD backplate) to miss the IC's on the back of the board.

A Big Shuriken 2 comes in a smidge under 73mm with the stock fan replaced with a 25mm thick one. (fits a 90mm tall case with standard sized motherboard standoffs)
That's smaller than the Noctua with the top fan on or 7mm taller with the Noctua's top fan off.
Taking that top fan off the Noctua vastly reduces it's cooling potential.
The weedy 80mm fan on the bottom is quite dire.

You can fit the 120mm fan on the bottom to replace the 80mm I believe, though it would depend on what else is around the socket (RAM might be an issue).

I'll have a look at the Shuriken, don't fancy the look of the stock cooler for silent cooling!

Prolimatech Samuel 17 is also a good option, comes in at 70mm with a 25mm thick fan, doesn't need a backplate either.

Thermalright's new AXP-100 is due for launch this month, this is sub 70mm with 25mm fan.

The Samuel 17 looks like it will fit the bill so I'll go with one of them, the Noctua was going to be exceptionally tight as it was as I'm putting it into a Silverstone PT09B-120 Petit. Cheers for the info!
