Here is my next build that will be used for gaming and productivity (design, video, audio). The budget is in the region of £5000 and I'm looking a system that will make a statement and reflect my style and work (for example, industrial, sophisticated sci-fi, cyberpunk, dark).

- Intel Core i7-7700K 5.1GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA1151 Pre-Binned Processor
- Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
- NZXT Noctis 450 Midi Tower Asus ROG Edition Case - Gunmetal Grey/Red
- NZXT Kraken X62 AIO Water Cooling Unit - 280mm (top mounted)
- NZXT Aer P 140mm Static Pressure PWM Fan x 2 (for push/pull for the above)
- Avexir Tesla ROG Series 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C15 2666MHz Quad Kit
- Asus GeForce GTX 1080Ti ROG Strix OC
- WD Black 512GB M.2 2280 SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (system drive + design software)
- Samsung 960 EVO Polaris 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive (audio + video)
- Kingston HyperX Savage 960GB SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (gaming)
- EVGA SuperNova T2 1000W 80 Plus Titanium Modular Power Supply
- BitFenix Alchemy 2.0 PSU Cable Kit, EVG/SF-Series - Red
- BitFenix Alchemy 2.0 Magnetic RGB LED Strip x 2
- AOC U3477PQU 34" WideScreen (I already have one of these and will be adding a second)
- Red sata cables as needed

In the future I am looking to add a second GPU in SLI and at least one more HyperX Savage 960GTB SSD.

Any thoughts you may have are welcome.

I appreciate you already have one monitor, but for 5 grand I'd want 144Hz not just a weedy 60Hz... Plus G-sync (for Nvidia cards). I'm not particularly up on monitors but it doesn't strike me as gaming orientated.

@davidmt83 - It's not optimal for gaming but gaming is only part of what I will use this system for. The AOC screen has beautiful, accurate colour and works great for productivity. As I already have one I'm going to get a matching screen as I have mis-matched 21:9 at the moment and it's a bit awkward, especially when it comes to colour.

If you want to 'make a statement and reflect my style and work' then you could design and make your own computer case.

Ideally that is what I would like to do to but the time, skills and tools involved for that are what I'm lacking. It is on my list for a future build though. Could you point me to any good bloggers or places where I can learn more?

Yeah that's fair enough. Only you can tell how important smooth gaming is for you. There are some beautiful IPS panels though, which are also 144Hz and G-Sync. You could sell the current monitor and have the best of both worlds. Just an option though.

I wouldn't pretend I know more than than people over in the Monitors section of the forum. It'd be worthwhile posting there to see their thoughts and to recommend you a particular model. You've got the cash though and the result of this monster build will be shown visually, so monitors are one of the most important parts of the build. I'm just thinking before you sell yourself to 60Hz at least check out what you could have, even if it means dropping a few hundred in selling your current monitor on eBay or the Members Market here (although you'll need to get posting lots as there's a minimum 1000 posts!)

blackmonday, your monitor is flickerfree. It overbids those 60Hz only in the refresh rate. But you may be able to get flickerfree and 120-144Hz monitors of that size too! If sacrifice of IPS is possible, Acer Predator Z35 is one such. Otherwise check for yourself. I see more AOC there.

My hard believe is that Samsung is THE manufacturer of SSDs, so planning to use it as 2nd drive and using anything else for primary to me is strange. Especially this one. The primary disk is used 100% of the working time. There is real benefit, that can be felt, of using fastest possible system drive. Or at least point TEMP and the swap there. Let me picture it better ... it is like you buy Porsche as mountainbike, and use your pretty Volvo for car speed racing. And for storage/gaming - Kingston? Seagate FireCuda will be cheaper and very similar in feel. Yes, it will be somewhat worse, but definitely not 200 bucks worse!!! Even not 2x worse. In your shoes I would put one 256-512G 960Evo as system drive and 2 Firecudas 2TB each as additionals.

Third note, 1KW PSU - you must SLI and OC in the same time for this to be reasonable. In the future videocards will consume less and less electricity. But even today SLI is not ok - see for yourself 1080 and Titan tests. With HBM2 videocards I believe it will be even worse. Just try to have as more info as you can on that topic! I would get P2 850, they P2 are really worth their value and T2 overpriced - see general directions

Forth note - additional NZXT fans ... no. Thermalright or EKWB? You don't like 'em colours?

GL~~~

Thanks, @screamBoy

I've removed the monitor and will use my existing kit for now.

I will be using G.SKILL Trident Z memory but this will take a few weeks to arrive so the memory listed below is temporary.

I will be adding a second GPU in SLI and replacing existing monitors with two new AOC 21:9 g-sync screens as well.
