yes the fan and radiator are bigger but the cpu heatsink is of a lower profile. nearly half the depth..

just check out the corsair website for pics and youtube for man reviews. linus mainly

and in a HTPC case, its the radiator thats gonna be the trouble installing, so a small one will be better.

It comes out a bit more expensive but you could just build a gaming PC & have something like the Zotac Ion as a HTPC:

Install Linux with XBMC on the Zotac Ion & stream media to it from the main PC (this will give you hardware accelerated 1080p media playback due to the Nvidia chipset). You could even use XBMC Live on a flash drive and knock off the cost of the hard drive for the Zotac box.
