A 7950 would be better, and some would argue that a 4670k would be too...

Also, Antec/Seasonic PSU's seem to be amongst the most commonly recommended here.

its a rig for the father mainly and is adamant on AMD for processor, as for gpu he is buying a gtx 770 4gb however we may be swapping as i use gpu more, so thats kinda of settled for now haha

i shall look into the PSU, would like at lest semi modular for cable management purposes any suggestions?

The 660 GTX is a good GPU, I have one, runs games well...

But,

There are better GPU's out for the $$$.Go for a 7950 they are a really good card bang for buck.

I've got the 8320, great card, can't fault it for the price.

I suspect the 8320s extra cores would be beneficial to rendering, anyway.

You say 'he is buying' a 770 4gb - if he hasn't bought it already I'd suggesting waiting for the 290 to be released on Thursday. It should be a similar price (mid-£300) with better performance.
