So complete noob when it comes to parts so I'm hoping if you guys can recommend me the right parts that are compatible with each other.
p.s Crappy laptop keyboard, can not type for ****.

Old Parts
CPU - Old CPU I5 3-4 Years old
Hard drive - 1 Main 3 Back-ups

My Old Computers Mobo fried itself, would these parts still be OK? or Safe to test out in a new computer? Just some details the Mobo wont power up at all. And I say a spark when I tried to start it.

New Parts.

GFX - HD7850 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-295-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411

Mobo - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-395-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261

Power Supply - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-147-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1088

Ram - 8 GB - Not Sure about the Ram, need help with the Mobo ram combinations, best suggestions?

Is this all compatible, and can I get some cheaper options without reducing performance too much? Make this as future proof as possible. Worth getting a different Mobo to get DDR3 1600 RAM?

I really have no idea what I'm doing. I know how to build a computer not chose the right parts. Please help me!

Edit: not looking to OC or anything fancy. Just a stable computer that wont blow up. :D

What socket is the I5 you have?

I would say its a 1156 as you say its 3 years old, therefore you will strugle to find a new motherboard and will have to go second hand.

Do you know the CPU works 100%?

Thanks for that, I don't know **** about this. :D
Changed it to your suggestion.

Nope I don't, no way to test it. Worth getting a new one? Just in case? Or can I at least test it without destroying the new parts?

Current Broken mobo is a EVGA P55 FTW.

Nope. I don't have any other parts I could use or anything. All I have is a broken PC with some parts that may still work/outdated.

Would it be worth it? I'm looking a computer asap. Also with it out of date would it not be better to just upgrade everything at once? And have the new computer last me another 3 years?

The 300 pound was a limit for just fixing my computer but by the looks of it I'm going to have to build a new one so that limit doesn't really apply anymore.

The Standard that came with the Antec 900 case, can't see any markings on it. So no idea what its called.

Where could I get a used board?

Edit: going out be back later/tomorrow.

If I remember right, I bought the case and Power supply together as one. When it arrived they were already put together as well.
