Have just under £300 quid to put these 5 parts together in a system and was wondering if it was the best value for money or whether i should go the intel route

That looks reasonable actually. I'm on one of those processors now, it isn't as quick as my old e8400 was but it's perfectly usable and a lot cheaper. It'll be a lot better when I get around to overclocking it.
 
So would it be a better value system than the e5200 equiv? To be honest it wont be used in an intensive way all the time.
 
Sweet, think will put this on order. How do these clock by the way?

(edit) and what length is the 4850 anyway, its gonna have 22cm i think til we get to the drive bays

Honestly can't tell you, I'll be annoyed if mine doesn't reach 3ghz comfortably. Should be a lot of thermal headroom on it. My board is rubbish so I think that will hold me back more than the chip
