build help

Also, if you have an SSD in your build, disable hibernation to save some space. Could also search the web for tips on how to remove unnecessary/unwanted Windows 10 features like Cortana etc.

so far ive installed the:

intel INF installation
bigfoot lan driver

install them all except Intel SATA Preinstall driver and if your not going to use the cpu intergrated garphics dont install the vga drivers.

Then download the latest graphics drivers for your graphics card.

When you have everything up and running take a look at some of the utilitie programs they may be useful.

Thats been reported before, its has to be something to do with the way windows+drivers have been installed or the order in which they are done.

Ive never had an issue and I do, Windows, Chipset, ME, GFX, Audio, LAN

Windows practically installed itself once the USB stick started up.

Then I started at the top of the list so did the audio first. Guess its too late now. Do I need management engine?

Not really, I goglded what it did the other day and non of it sounds like anything you need, its all like remote access stuff.

You can reinstall windows and try the drivers again, it only takes me like 15-20mins to do.

I'll leave it for now.

I have installed CPU-Z and core tempt to check the CPU is working properly.

It is reporting a 800MHz clock speed at idle. Is this correct? 24 degrees temperature being reported.

Great.

I must say that this has all been so simple. It used to take hours to install windows xp 10 years ago. I had planned that this would take me all night. And the boot up speed is amazing. Its on the motherboard boot up screen longer than it takes to start windows.

Glad it's all working well. Congrats on the build.

Don't forget to go into Windows Settings : Privacy and turn off all the data sharing and other privacy stuff you don't want to participate in.

Just want to double check my win install please.

When i created my install usb stick, i was advised to create it as GPT for uefi. Id done it as ntfs first so i had to go and redo this, which was fine.

Ive noticed my windows install drive is formatted at ntfs though. Have i done something wrong here? Should i have done a custom windows install rather than choosing the 'typical' option?

GPT is the partition format, NTFS is the drive format. The alternative to GPT is MBR (master boot record). MBR partitions have a limit on the drive size, 2TB.

NTFS is the current drive format. The alternative drive formats to NTFS are FAT, FAT32 and exFAT.

Great thanks im ok then.

Can i ask a question about the drivers for my wifi card please. Its a tp-link card and the drivers on the website are only for windows 8. Do i go ahead anyway, or stick with the stock windows 10 driver that has loaded automatically?

Also my monitor drivers are on the AOC website as beta, non certified only. What would you do here?
