Hey guys I'm about to sell my macbook pro retina (dont judge me I know it was a bad choice) so I will have about £1200-£1400 to play with and am going to build my own beast of a gaming desktop along with enough power for 3d graphic design and software dev :)

My plan so far:

Processor - Intel i7 4770k
Ram - 16gb 2400mhz corsair
Motherboard - Asus maximus hero
Graphics card - saphire amd 290x
PSU - 750w corsair
Cpu Cooling - corsair h100i
Case - aerocool x-predator devil red
Ssd - 64gb sandisk 6gb/s
HDD - 2TB 7200rpm

I was looking to use 'intel cache acceleration' on the 64gb ssd to speed up the hdd and then add a 120gb ssd if needed :)

does anyone have any experience of using the above?

Roughly £1300

Anyone got any suggestions or advice before I spend this much :)

I think it looks good but I think using a 120gb ssd as a boot drive then using smart response
with the 64gb and hdd. I wouldn't chose that case but that's just me.

My money would be on something like this, much cheaper Mobo, no point spending so much with your current build, adding in green ram to give it a nice theme. Awesome case with so much space to work with, Gigabyte GPU has an awesome cooler, comes in all black and they offer great RMA. Better PSU and bigger SSD.

It's out of stock currently(gibbon said it should come back in stock middle of next week) but the best 290(non x) is currently the sapphire tri-x(well until the msi lightning model is released, no idea when it is tho), the next best is the msi gaming edition.
