Build me a computer for 4000 pound, not a penny more or less

Where's the link to the guy who wanted/bought a £5K machine when you need it?

P.S: OP, in my professional opinion... you are a moron (troll or not). No offence.

If it were me I'd get a 30" monitor, three graphics card set-up and an absolute kick ass cpu, 12 gigs of ram. I still doubt I'd even get to use up all of the £4000. Around £1500 - 2000 will get you a very, very powerful rig.

The op is obviously trolling.

However, I do think there's a good point here. I think the main objective of a gaming pc is to hit an average of 40fps on a game, with a lower of not less than 25fps. I think you can do that at an initial outlay of around £600 - if you know what you are doing, are prepared to wheel and deal (i.e. some second hand kit), and give up on a few obvious outliers i.e. crysis. And from that point, again if you wheel and deal, you can keep up to date by regularly trading your way to upgrades. The monitor, case, psu etc. may not be great; sound may not be a strong point etc. But I guess you could maintain the ability to play almost all games over a three year period for <£1,000 - I bet lots of people posting on here do just that.

I reckon you pay double that if you only want to buy once i.e. at the start, for a similar experience. And if you want better cases, monitors etc., £4,000 inclusive of vat, delivery, and potentially build cost, is very easy to spend. No need to get 3x5970s etc., just start buying top end Lian Li cases, and gold rated 1000w psu...

What the hell did you buy? £2000 is enough for a high end spec:confused: Although, does depend on what you're getting, 3 monitors\3GPUS\SSD+3xHD is obviously gonna up the cost some what

I run a lot of VMs for testing so my requirements were such that I needed plenty of ram and hard disk space.

Added to the fact I required a decent set of speakers, keyboard, mouse, OS etc etc etc It's not hard to get up to £2,000

Fair enough, but this is goes up to double that amount, so in other words..buying your equipment twice over!

yeah, when you put it like that £4,000 does seem rather a large amount

it's his money, and so long that he realizes that it will be worth half what he paid in six months then fair enough. If he has that much to waste, perhaps making a donation to charity would be a nice thing to do?

Not necessarily a troll there was a guy a while back that spent 24k on 3 rigs for him and a couple of friends to game on.

EDIT: Ok maybe I was wrong he was a troll and was banned but this guy could still be genuine

Far to easy spending 4k. As said if you want high end and you need everything, it is so easy to spend well above 4k.

Hugely powerful and silent.
