hi,

i have about £800 to spend :) woo

would like a pc to play all the latest games, more specific crysis... want it to run at max settings :)

dont need... hdd, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers

could someone suggest a sound card too, without it being in the over all build, just something to get at a later date :)

with the case, i dont want to spend loads getting a fancy one, just one with good air circulation

thanks

How firm are you about that £800 limit? In order to get a GTX into the rig I have to go overbudget.

I can do a lower-priced spec if you do so wish.

640 GTS would bang the cost down and still be an awesome card, if your not running on a 24" monitor or anything daft its not gonna struggle

this is ok to go over :)
i ahvent been looking at hardware for a while, but i like amd better? thought they were better for gaming?

and i have LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Intel's on top of the hill right now, as they have been for about a year. It's been ever since Netburst was axed in favor of the Core architecture. You'll have a tough time finding a quad core AMD at the moment. ;)

Hows this:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit
Asus DRW-1814BLT 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS II Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black

Total : £789.45

It's only £4 cheaper than usual though. I think it's in TWO just to stimulate even more interest around an already-interesting processor.

My 2 cents: Stick to stickroad's spec but

1. Replace EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

with

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM
