Hi Guys, i've been thinking of building a new rig for myself as my current one is on it's last legs. Big question is do I:-

1) Build a new one now along the lines of a Q6600 + Nvidia GT(S)

2) Wait a couple more months until the Penryn equivalent of the Q6600 and the new 9800's are released?

Any thoughts?

I am in agreement with Matty114 waiting would be beneficial.

Penryn is due for release shortly and the new 9800s GC.

Also Ocuk is to start bringing DFI mother boards to the shop. *Note 45nm Yorkie have been delayed aprox 1-2 months due to problems with associated motherboards.front-side bus (FSB) on certain boards that would use the Yorkfield non-Extreme processors. More specifically, mass-market four-layer boards, such as some P35-based boards, may have "noise" and stability issues

Patience is your best bet, and you'll be better off because a few months after you'll probably upgrade CPU and GFX anyway.

If you're into Overclocking then you could 'kind of' futureproof yourself with a DFI X38, which I'm sure will be available in the UK within the next month or so. In that time Wolfdale and Nvidia 9 series will be here or thereabouts and you will be happy that you waited!

But then again all these new graphics cards and x38 boards cost a heck of a lot more than what a good p35 board does.
