Build new PC (Haswell/780) Advice Needed

I recently sold my X79 system to buy a retina MacBook and a console..... I regret my decision so much. My PC was really good, 3930K with a Titan but I wasn't happy with it and I wanted to sell it whilst it still had good value and wait until I have my own place so I can go all out and build what I want.

I think I am going to have to cut those plans short because my PS3 is boring and the next gen consoles have disappointed me.

I have kept my eye on the haswell rumours because I'm hoping apple have a refresh at WWDC but after seeing a gtx 780 is launching today I think I'm sold on a new gaming PC.

I was buying a MacBook, ultrabook/alienware and maybe a HTPC and PS4 with my X79 sale money but it may be wiser to just buy a haswell gaming PC.

Really don't think I want a new console now and won't need an alienware or HTPC if I have the PC so looking for a bit of advice now.

Can I avoid the MacBook (use xcode) and build a new PC with an extra SSD for hackintosh? This way can spend well and not need anything else

And if I do build will a z77/780 system be good enough for me coming from a rampage iV with a 3930K and Titan. I think ivy-e or haswell-e is a long long way off so not worth waiting for that and I don't really want to build an x79 system again.

I use adobe suite and lots of gaming so the PC will be enough, just the xcode I will miss out on, I will eventually buy a MacBook too but will have to wait a while if I build the PC.

Any suggestions please people :)

Also asus raidr.... Any news when that's coming because I want that!

Personally Id just look at getting a cheaper x79 build. depending on your budget.
for example, i sold my 3930k setup with a 7970 3gb and 2 ssd's for 1k, looking around I could build a 3930k setup for about 600 quid.
Or go x79 and grab a 3820, not quite as good as a 3930k obviously, but it means you can dump an ivy e chip in at a later stage if it comes out and if its on the same architecture.
My assumptions here are that you are buying used parts, which is what I'd recommend anyway.

In terms of gaming, any 1155/1150/2011 setup will thrash a console with a good gpu and a decent amount of ram. its down to which online community you prefer. pc gaming has a large FPS and RPG community but with games like Fifa, console IMO has a much larger and better community.

Basically, z77 vs 2011, 2011 every time if you can afford it. 3820 performs similar to the 3770k stock, but it leaves you good upgrade potential. haswell is only meant to be 10% faster than ivybridge, so you wouldnt notice a great deal of difference there, whereas 2011 will be supporting newer CPU's just like 1150 will.

I am hoping to buy used yes so I can hopefully save money.

I play Fifa yes but I'm a bigger fan of FPS games which is why a console isn't doing it for me.

So you think it's better to build an X79 system cheap rather than a new Z77 system?

Personally i will always look to buy better used than worse new. Eg a 3930k will still be in warranty so thats not an issue, cases arent prone to fail so id buy a used case, most parts for top end systems are under warranty so.

Just don't want to buy a 3930K after owning one for so long.

The 780 looks good, I paid close to £1K for my Titan so I think the £550 price is a bargain.

Is it going to be 2014 before X89 or something is launched? I can't wait that long but I could make do for a while with a gaming laptop or even see what a haswell MacBook with a 7XXm GPU looks like for gaming.

If your even considering a gaming laptop go for a 2500k or 3570k setup. Or 2600k. Can do one for around 400 and itll outperform any gaming laptop even close to the price point. If space matters go mini itx, thats what ive done. 2500k, p8z77i and a bitfenix prodigy. Cant wait to build it.

I think you have me sold :) I just saw a really nice itx silvers tone case with a 600w psu.

I have the space for a full tower but it won't be the best location so that's why I sold my 800D. I could build something reasonable now for gaming and then if I build a true gaming rig I could just use it as a HTPC.

I think I am going to try build a nice bitfenix prodigy itx gaming rig :)

Can someone help with some suggestions about a good build and rough idea on cost.

Want to try keep the cost down but I do want to play BF3/BF4 and Crysis 3 so need a fairly decent GPU. Also will a H100 fit in the roof?

I'm thinking a something like 3770K with 16gb ram with a 7950/670.
