Build now or wait

Again thanks to all for input.
The biggest put off the 3000 chips is the price of the motherboards.

If I was to go for the current CPU it would be 2600x or 2700. MSI Carbon pro x470 (have found a deal on them for just over £100) 16gig of 3000/3200 ddr4, and more storage.

GPU is an nitro+ rx480 and still good enough for now anyway, PSU is alright for now.

Get an X470, you only need X570 if you want PCIe4.

Indeed. I'll get X570 because I want the rig to last many years and I'd like new tech for once. They look like they'll be really expensive though so if I was buying for a normal user or gamer I'd probably recommend B450 or X470 unless the B550 motherboards don't cost much more.

I'm going for B550 but I heard they could be delayed until January which I dont believe. If that's the case I'll get a cheap B450 because not waiting until next year. I'm desperate to start gaming again.

General consensus is to wait, so for a change I'll take the advice, wait a month, get a 3700x and a good x470 unless the b550 boards are released. All pending how the reviews go.

Hi all, new member here looking for advice

I'm going to build a new PC, always used AMD without problems, so Ryzen seems the obvious choice. I was going to get a 2600 or 2700x and x450/470 mobo. Now seeing as the 3000 series is a month or so, are they worth waiting for?

It will be used for gaming, browsing and watching Netflix. Never OC'd, might use the turbo boost, but nothing serious. Will Pcie 4 make a difference? Any advice welcomed.

It's worth the wait. I would wait an answer from intel where they take back the performance and AMD normalise their pricings.

Sounds sensible if you don't need PCIE 4.0. Plenty of reviews of the older boards so you should be able pick one with a good VRM for future upgrades. Trying hard to be as sensible but I may not manage it :)

the only reason to build now is because you need it dire or cant wait or you on a limited budget.

there is some good deals on 2600 ryzen chips. which is the only chip if you budget building to consider worth it. especially with the new chips here very shortly. wait for benchmarks before getting swept up in hype.
