anyone got any thoughts / opinions? or can you spot any bottlenecks that may occur in the system (i know that RAM most definatly won't bottleneck anything :P)

Also just as additional info, i'll be buying a physX card aswell.

Well general consensus on the physx card (apart from dear old Pottsey) is that its basically a waste of money.
Why do you need 8gb of ram? Unless your doing video editing or something similar then to be honest its also not really that necessary, 4gb ismore than enough (although apaprently vista64 performes slightly better with 8gb I don't think its anything noticable).
Corsair HX620 is probably perfectly fine, cheaper and possibly better.
SLI 9600s? Just go for one card, you'll get far better performance out of it!

Your motherboard is Crossfire rather than SLi so you need to change to a 7X0i based motherboard if you really want SLi.

1.5gb is quite a lot to have in a Raid0 array, I'd only suggest this if your data isn't important to you and/or you have a good backup routine.

You might want to change the DVDRW to a SATA model.

And you'll probably also be advised that a PhysX card is a waste of time unless you have quite a few games that make use of it already.

1st: didn't notice the crossfire bit heh, thanks

2nd: the reason i went with 8gb of ram is partially for future proofing, and partially because i figured it may be useful, next year in uni we start doing a lot of art stuff, which would include things like maaya and 3dsmax. And tbh i don't want to have to wait several hours for the damn thing to finish doing what its doing. (that and i'll probably be running home when i'm finished too.)

3rd: i may downgrade to having 2x 300gb in raid0 and just buy a single extra hd for data instead.

4th: i've always been unsure about the physX card. which is why i threw that in there (was wondering why it was slowly disappearing from stores etc)

5th: you mentioned the 9600's in sli being a waste, from what i'd seen these cards were practically made for SLi, any suggestions on a single card around the same total price which would have around the same performance?

I'd pay a fiver/tenner more and get an 8800GT rather than the 9600.

Drop the physx card - In a short while nvidia are releasing drivers that allow the physx API to be run on their graphics cards.

If you're getting such high end hardware, then I'd get an SLI mobo, for the opportunity to upgrade at a later date.
