greywolf's System Build Guide thread will teach you how to do it if you want to learn.

If you're scared of doing something wrong though, the prebuilts are good- looks like you just got unlucky.

hybrid572 ..thanks for that ..this is why i bought a prebuilt one ... had the Titan Decimator on this morning and got a overclocking warning on the screen when i phoned them up they were great told me what to do and how to on the fone and wen it was dun i booted up and nothing just a lot of lines flashing across the screen ..they offered me a refund saying a problem on the board but need another really quick and dont want another Titan Decimator ...any suggestions anyone

I'd build your own mate, you gain lots of experience when you build your own, I started building my own when I was 13, I am now 21 with my own pc repair business :)

I learned a lot by making mistakes breaking a lot of computers in the process, then I just managed to identify problem, solutions ect.

I am glad I did it :) now I am going for microsoft certification :)

What sort of budget have you got to play with firstly?

Could get one of the new cataclysm builds such as this one, but not sure if thats a bit too much money, or if you built it yourself you could get a very similar system for marginally less

Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle - Gigabyte £389.99

busajohn - BUILD ONE! You won't regret it & you'll definitely love and appreciate it more - I'm right in the middle of my first build and apart from the fact I've saved a pretty penny going DIY, just keep checking back here with anything you're unsure of, and follow the sticky guide at the top of this forum... Best thing I've found is that you have complete control over everything, rather than adapting to someone elses design...

Build :)
Its more fun, and you get a proper knowledge of how your PC works.

When you get all your bits make sure you have a camera ready, then if you run into any problems take a snap shot and we can help.

Long run you'll gain an interest once you start building your own, you'll get a better overall build once you have the interest.

Short term it's a bit of grief, but we're here. I'd say do a lot of reading around first, watch some videos of people building. There's a guy called tjharlow on youtube who has some good ones.

If you're in a rush just buy prebuilt, coz you won't get the most out of a self-build unless you take your time.

well if its purely for gaming just take 95's build and add a gtx 470, a 1tb samsung F3 and maybe swap the psu for the xfx 650w modular psu(currently out of stock) if theres still some change left :D

Worth building it yourself buddy, there's a stick explaining how to build a computer. You can always check on here if you run into any problems :)

The components will all have their own instructions anyway, everything's pretty intuitive :)

How much extra do they charge for building one anyone know?

Impossible for you or I to calculate and even then if you come up with a figure it will be way out.

Figure it as if you were running the business.

Take any pre built system and breakdown the parts and cost them against the components list. That's about, on average, say.. £100 difference. But remember your costing against retail price not bulk unit price which again unless your on the inside of the trade is a wild guess.

You see where this is going?

:)

Add on employee overheads, delivery etc etc etc

:)

It's not what is added on..... it's the profit per unit

Build your own. The net and this site has so much info its really easy building a stock running PC. Even building a system to OC is so much easier than it used to be. I started with zero comp know-how and and just educated myself 10 years or so ago and have not looked back.

The money you save is very nice. A buddy of mine had a new comp built for him at a place here in the states and it cost him $2k us not including monitor, keyboard and mouse. I could have built it myself for $1400 or cheaper and had fun doing it.

With this been an enthusiasts forum most will suggest building your own pc, but if you really have no interest in such thing and just want to do away with the hassle then the prebuilt systems are worth the extra imo.

With ocuk prebuilt systems you know exactly what you are getting and the components will be of much higher quality than your regular oem systems. Plus they do pre-oced systems as well.

You do save a fair bit of money building yourself if you want to have a go. It's a lot less scary than it looks, as I said, look at greywolf's guide, or the aforementioned videos on youtube. The OCUK prebuilts are, as steve said, considerably higher quality than most prebuilts (for one thing, they come with good PSUs and GPUs), so they're there if you really don't trust yourself. Take a look and see if you think you can do it- it's not really any more difficult than upgrading a graphics card.

As for a decent DIY, I'd go for something like:

Radon Intel Core i5 760 @ 4.00GHz overclocked bundle 1
Sapphire ATI Radeon 6870 1
Coolermaster Elite 430 1
OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W 1
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB 1
Subtotal £731.10
£622.21 ex VAT

If you do a lot of CPU intensive work but no gaming, the following with your 7200GS should be ideal:

Krypton Intel Core i7 950 @4.00GHz overclocked bundle 1
Coolermaster Elite 430 1
OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W 1
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB 1
Subtotal £701.11
