Build sequence advice

Kit is as follows:

Win 7 Home Premium 64
i7 930
TRUE black cooler
Asus P6X58D-E
6GB Patriot 1600mhz
Corsair C300 64GB SSD
2x1TB Samsung F3 for RAID 0
BFG 8800GTX
Asus Essence STX
Samsung SH-B083L BluRay
Corsair TX650 PSU

Other than assembling as I would any other system (last build was a C2Duo E6850 on a P5K premium) is there anything I need to be aware of building an i7 rig.

Planning to run OS on SSD and RAID the 2x1TB F3's for the rest, probably using software RAID unless mobo controller is better which I doubt it will be.

Is there a correct sequence for drivers install to obtain stable fast system.

Any thing else to watch out for.

All advice appreciated.
 
Why not use use the Intel ICH10R controller? I've never had any problem with this?


Intertesing you're still using a G80? I'll be interested in seeing the benchmaks on that? Are you going to overclock the 930?
 
I wouldn't use software RAID at all especially if you have a dedicated RAID chip on your motherboard. Hardware RAID is better, it uses less CPU power so it won't slow down your PC. Your data won't be subject to software corruption or problems that are software/OS specific.

Software RAID is for those who don't have dedicated RAID chips. Why are you planning to use it?
 
Not sure if your old pc would have this, but it caught me out when i recently built a PC, they have 2 motherboard power sockets, the normal 16 pin and a smaller 8 pin.
 
I have seen a post on here and read a few articles recently suggesting it was as good if not better in some respects. I know very little about RAID as you can see, I just want to set the storage up to be as fast as I can. I will be using an offboard enclosure for data backup as well.
