My relatives PC died after an amazing 6 years, and she knows nothing of technology so she has asked me to buy a new computer for her. I plan on building a computer as I know you can get better value for money if you build it yourself.

I don't know much about speccing computers, however I have had a go and to be honest, I'm not even sure if this build would work, but I specced it with the intent of being a web-browsing PC and nothing more. All she does is browse the web and she needs a PC that is small (Micro-ATX Size) and browses the web. My spec is way too expensive (£460) so is there anyway you could bring down the price, or maybe just overhaul my attempt at a spec and just do a complete better one?

Thanks,
~Leighton

Oh, and my go at a spec:-

Also, even though it's just for web browsing, I do want it to be really fast for boot, etc, since her old PC was not the best, and you had to wait 5-10 mins for it to load come the past few months, so I want her to see the difference.

One option is to buy an HP N54L - technically it is a server, but it's tiny (m-itx), quiet and is only about £230 or £130 if you wait for the cashback offers. For the rest of the £120 you have to play with, you could buy yourself an OS and then either up the RAM to 8GB or put an SSD in to accompany the 250GB spinner it comes with.

Yeah, 120gb should be enough because in 6 years she used around 10gb in data, I'm surprised she used that, I personally would want to build the system myself rather than buy a system and upgrade it, and I like the look of that build, but I forgot to mention that the keyboard and mouse are the green and purple ports (forgot names, at a guess I would call them PS2 or something?) so if I went with that build I would need to spend another £15-£20 if I can't find out any old keyboard mouses in my house :S I do like that build though, so I will have a good rummage around to see if I can find out any old microsoft USB keyboard/mouses in my house :)

The mobo has PS2 ports.

1 x PS/2 keyboard port, 1 x PS/2 mouse port, 1 x DVI Port, 1 x DSUB Port, 1 x HDMI, 4x USB 2.0/1.1 ports, 1 x RJ-45 ports, 3x audio jacks

Looking at the mobo on the picture, it looks like it has a PS2 port where it's 2 in 1, but I need 1 full keyboard port and 1 full mouse port, but it doesn't matter too much, I think I have a cheap microsoft keyboard laying around, so if I can't use the keyboard/mouse she already has, I'll donate my microsoft one. Thanks for the help, will most probably get her to order this build pretty soon, or depending on when I'll see her next, order it for her.
