A VEGA 56 would be ideal for that res for gaming, but at current prices I wouldn't buy one. On the Nvidia side the GTX 1070 would do fine, but again they are overpriced at present due to mining.

moral of the story...get a 1080ti...the palit super jetstream is nearly at pre-mining prices :cool:
 
Is it likely that prices are going to drop though or is this the new reality of Gfx card prices? I’d rather not pay £800 but if that’s just how it is now......
 
@noj a thread on the gpu subforums suggest that nvidia are forcasting gpu prices to continually rise until Q3 2018. but take it with a pinch of salt.
in truth, nobody knows. if crypto crashed next week, you'd suddenly find a glut of gpus at super cheap pricing, and new cards will come down massively in price

Unless mining takes a nose dive looks like high prices are here to star for the forceable.. the joy...

Yep, not been a secret they cut down Ti production about 4 months ago and vendors pulled 11gbps gtx 1080 models to give the low supply to Ti's.

Massive hint to the Q3 and why they think a sudden change in the GPU situation ;)
 
So I’ve got the budget agreed by the Mrs and ready to order....any changes to recommendations?
I think the big question for me is still the AMD v Intel one.

kept it lower but powerful to run your 1440p 144hz - prob could have got the 1080ti... but seem how you feel showing receipt to your commander and chief.. i know what mine would say haha
