Hi All,

I am looking to build a computer with a maximum budget of £400 that will run the programs: Vray (rendering), Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe InDesign, AutoCad, Rhino 3d Modelling Program, 3d max, sketchup and flamingo rendering with no problems.
I can’t remember whether this type of work required more cores or more Ghz.

I know you guys are the experts, build me a computer please!
I already have an OS. Please include a monitor (19”+), mouse, and keyboard (cheap and cheerful) in the overall price.

The case I will buy separately.

Something tells me to steer towards intel from past experience, but I am open to AMD HexCore (??)

Thanks!

Ok guys we gotta keep this under £500, just spoke to the buyer, the corsair is the PSU I would like to go for though.

Thanks for the builds so far, really like the Hexcore system, anyway we can make cuts in it?

The essential programs are photoshop, vray, rhino, sketchup, cad and indesign.

What is the most basic MOBO I can get to work with the Hexcore? Since I will obviously need a standalone GFX.

Thanks.

So many good builds, but do we need such a high end MOBO?

Thanks for the spec Phoenix...are you sure I can do away with the gfx? One requirement is to not have to wait around for ages when using the programs!

Thanks

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies.

I think I will ditch the monitor and get them to spend a few more bucks on 22".

As for the graphics card, will the XFX be sufficient?

Does anybody else think that the onboard gpu will suffice?

Thanks

Ok can you guys recommend a CUDA gfx please?

Is this ok:

Gigabyte 9500GT OC 512MB GDDR3 VGA DVI HDMI Out PhysX and Cuda ready PCI-E Graphics Card

The specification I gave has been approved, just want to double check the GPU now. If CUDA is the way to go then I think the above graphics card fits the bill, just need some pointers.

Thanks

Just checked, I will stick with the GeForce 9800 GT as it has 112 CUDA cores, the 9500 GT only has 32.

Ok thanks, the picture on the site where I bought it from says Rev 1.0, but then it could be an old picture..as long as the BIOS are the same then it should be cool!

Just picked these up:

Just waiting till Wednesday for the Mobo, Case and keyboard :)

Also just wanted to ask, is there a program or programs that I can use to test out all the parts of the build to ensure that everything is working and stable? (no overclocking)

The build is for my cousin who will be moving more than 3 hours away so I need to make sure all is well.

Thanks.
