Okay, this isnt a fancy fancy pc, and is only to tide me over til my asus motherboard comes back from rma (hopefully before uni starts -_-).

Specs

Q9550
4gb dominator 1066mhz (another 4gb in the post)
GTX 285
1tb hdd

phase 1. All built. Running absolutely fine at stock. I have this POS cpu cooler that was included (some akasa crap) that runs loud and noisy).

Phase 2.


Have just gone into the bios and ramped up the vcore to 1.27v and stuck the CPU @ 3Ghz. Speedfan is showing the cores to be idling at 50oc. Ouch :eek:

3DMark06 is giving a score of 16,500. Not bad for a first go.


Will try pushing higher at this same vcore.
 
I took the vcore down a notch and bumped the frequency up to 3.4ghz :eek: .

18,000 3DMark06 points.



Wonder if the chip can take anymore?
 
I have no knowledge of these chips, so im shooting left and right.

I decided to stick the vcore all the way up to 1.33v :eek: and bumped the fsb up to 450 giving me a speed of 3.82Ghz.

3DMark06 gives me a score of 19,600 :)



How do I test to see if its stable?



Edit: Damn. I just downloaded speedfan and its saying that my cores are at 50oc. :( Time to get a new cooler. Can anyone suggest a good one? Thanks
