Hi, I have made a near final choice for my build and it is as follows:

Antec 1200 case
Gigabyte GA X58 UD5 Mobo
Sapphire ATI Radeon 5770 Vapor-X 1GB
Corsair TX 950 Watt PSU
Corsair XMS 3 6GB DDR3 RAM, 1600Mhz
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II Hard disk
LG GH22LS50 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter Lightscribe Drive
i7 920 + domino ALC cooler.

Now I face a dilemma:
I really want another 5770 for crossfire AND the Gigabyte UD7, but I can only have 1.

WHat should I do, I mean the UD7 =MUCH better, and I can get another graphics card later, but willthe UD5 be alright, and for how long before it is out of date and unusable.

I cant see the motherboard affecting performance a great deal unless you need USB 3.0 the extra USB and SATA ports, I'm not sure how this would affect overclocking potential if you do intend to do so

I would say you'd be better off sticking with the UD5 and going for a second 5770 for crossfire.

Interested in any testing which shows the second revision of the UD5 to be faster than the first. I was expecting some approximation to usb3 and sata3 to be implemented along with the power circuitry being reworked to get around the 220 bsck limit, but for the boards to perform identically under air or water.

So do you guys think that the UD5 is better in terms of money/power?
and also, how long before it is outdated to the point of uselessness.

It wont be outdatted for a while, with Socket 1366 being new, and as far as new chips no doubt there will be bios upgrades to support the new chips so you dont gain anything from that perspective
