Build your own NAS?

3.5 > 5.25" Adaptor and mounted 5th drive where the CD drive goes.

Theres lots of people running 6 drives too, by taking out the tray below the CD ara and using the ESATA port on the back.

Or do it like i did it. For £120~ seems a no brainer to me.

6x 3.5" Drives.

A Noiseblocker X-swing and yes i use the esata port. The bracket is a little hard to get hold of now as it's discontinued.

ok so you Hp Microserver guys, what OS do you run? and can you /have you got RAID-Z working?

You're better off asking in the dedicated thread in server section. I personally run Windows Home Server 2011 with 3x RAID1 arrays on the "hardware" controller. Use mine as File/print/torrent/sabnzb box.

Another here running WHS 2011, but I have 5x 2TB in RAID 5 (off an LSI9260-8i) with a 64GB Crucial C300 boot drive. Absolutely flies!

I wanna get hold of one of those x-swings now too, looks awesome!
