building a computer from start to finish

I am in the process of ordering parts to build my computer from OCUK, but what i was wondering was that the build wont be all finished at once, and i was to purchase the motherboard (which i may do today) could i mount the CPU, GPU and RAM to the motherboard, and fit it into the case along with the PSU and then leave it for a few days before i finish it off?

This may sound silly but i was just wondering the fact its off mean it could build up dust and static electricty etc

If you shut the case and leave it turned off there is no air flowing so dust will not build up.

One of the best places to store a part built machine is in it's case after all thats where it will live once completed.

If you connect the motherboard, CPU, RAM. GPU, PSU and put it in the case - then you are basically done. Just add the storage drive, DVD drive (and any extra kit like sound card) and power it up. You won't have any issues with leaving it sitting for a few days.

If I was you I would boot the system up as soon as you build the first part and try and get into the BIOS. If you can do this then you are on your way to checking that the system is working correctly (HDD and DVD drive should not be needed to POST and get into the BIOS).

sounds similar to what ive done, i still need to buy ram and a cpu, everything else is mounted and in the case awaiting completion, i dont see any problem with static electricity aslong as your careful.

ok cheers, i will store it in the case in which the case arrived in (ironic) and will attempt to get into the BIOS and see what happens!
