Building a computer, need help please

ok, after some research and thought from some useful replies here's what I have.

Xenon AMD A4-3300 2.50GHz Bundle - Dual Core £119

OcUK GeForce GT 440 1024MB £49.99

OcUK USB Keyboard - Black £4.99

Microsoft Ready Basic Optical Mouse Black £10.99

Logitech S-220 2.1 Speaker System £16.99

Samsung HM160HC 160GB 2.5" £41.60

LiteOn iHAS124 SATA DVD Optical Drive | OEM £13.98

Casecom KB-7720 Black ATX midi tower case £9.99

Corsair 500W CX V2 PSU £45.00

total: roughly £310

This is without a monitor which I will spending up £100 on.

I know a lot of you will think this is a pile of rubbish, but bear in mind I'm on a v tight budget for this one.

I have a few rookie questions that I would v much appreciate someone taking the time to answer.

can anyone confirm that all of these components would be compatible?

would the mobo contain a network connection so that he could easily connect an ethernet cable, without a network card?

would a copy of windows XP be easily installed on this system?

would the PSU be enough, or maybe even and unnecessary amount. Could spend less on the Corsair 430w?

Really appreciate anyone taking the time out to help me with this.

came up with the following including a 19" monitor (not sure if thats enough ?)

no graphics card spec'd, left it to use the onboard gfx, should be ok for the games mentioned, might need the detail turned down a bit tho.

if nothing else the psu listed would be worth being used to replace the corsair you listed to save a bit of money.

This is skimping on EVERYTHING except the graphics. I would honestly say it would be a bad idea to use that power supply, and you should consider saying £350 would be an absolute minimum.

This would be better, you have to add a keyboard + mouse to that obviously.

Thanks rooster. I'm afraid it's a little over budget including a monitor. How about the specs that I posted, would you say that they are compatible?

You just CANT build a decent PC for that spec, go back to your brother and tell him to wait and save £50-100 more.

Getting a PC with those components is stupid imo.

Great thanks mp260767. Fair enough addicted, I'll see what I can do. Thing is, I think my opinion of a good computer is probably a lot different to yours. I have and intel core 2 duo, 2gb ram with a radeon x1950 XT and I consider it to be pretty good.

he's not really after a decent pc tho, he's after the best he can get to run cs 1.6 and fallout, not really something that needs that much to power to play.
