Building a floating desk

Thinking of building one out of perspex or the only one I can find in the material finish I want is plexiglass. (high gloss white)

Thing is that it would only be attached via two walls (corner, one length (1700mm of desk one width of desk 700mm) and that it would be running window height, which means windows sills would be in the direct way of attaching it to the wall. was thinking of somesort of L shaped blocks of wood that i could sit on, which may also allow gaps for cables to run down.

I also want a "floating" set of drawers attached.

What sort of thickness of sheeting should I be looking at? The stuff I've found is only 6mm thick:

Would also need it bent round to form the drawer unit as I want it to appear to be made from one sheet.

any tips, other forums to visit etc?

hahaha, i get you now!

I thought you were meaning something about cost it would be for construction.

Thanks bennie, I have found some places selling 25mm, altho couldnt get a quote online, let alone what i wanted. Off to look at the vinyl gloss now.

I suppose an other option could be building it out of MDF, then getting the high white gloss sheeting to sit ontop, then get the edge curved round so it hangs over, as well as pain the mdf white.
then the haning drawer unit.....not sure

well not at home so can't give measurements, but guessed 6mm would be too thin.

through diynot.com found this: http://www.edens.co.uk/gfx/ul/files/Page26_1.pdf if you scroll to the bottom for super high gloss.

Wall is a proper real wall (plaster and brick work) so dont need to worry about stupid paperstrength plasterboard.

Looking for something that gives the plastic uber shiney look to things.

Then the next problem would be to find a grain and colour of wood I like.

using this desk as inspiration, but top and drawer area is made from white gloss, then have three push to open drawers made from a strongish wood grain (so the grain all matches from door to door)

come up with a new idea!

use mdf treated white underneath, then have plexi-glass satinice over the top with an overhang, so it looks like the surface is glowing.

Then just find a funkyt high gloss drawer unit to fit underneath
