Building a floating desk

come up with a new idea!

use mdf treated white underneath, then have plexi-glass satinice over the top with an overhang, so it looks like the surface is glowing.

Then just find a funkyt high gloss drawer unit to fit underneath
 
You can get 12mm polycarb which is quite strong, I have it in certain bits of kit at work - all made by a specialist plastics manf.
