Yeah, get a Mac. If you get an Apple screen, it is already colour calibrated for white point. You can then rely on it fairly accurately when using Photoshop colour profiles. And, if you really need to use Windows some times, use BootCamp, Parallels or VMWare.
Photoshop is much nicer to use on OS X due to the default theme being non-colourful, and Exposé makes working with multiple images MUCH nicer, quicker and easier than the Windows MDI version.
