Hiya,

A little bit of help is required here, i am looking at building my own NAS of sorts, so far i have a Mobo, RAM & CPU and the hard drives.

What i dont have is a case and thats where you guys come in, initially i thought about modding an old HP printer i had lying around putting all the gear in that, however i feel that it would probably be more hassle than its worth.

I have a couple of old cases lying around but wanted to steer clear of normal tower cases, something a bit more aestetically pleasing would be better as it will keep the wife off my back :-)

any thoughts chaps?

have you checked out the HP micro servers with £100 rebate on them?

I think they are about 250 (150 after rebate)

4 bays, 5 if you use the CD bay, dual core amd 1.3,

I got one wuns w7 as a nas fine..

yep, i have thought long and hard about one of those types of server or NAS, but truth be known i dont really want to fork out £150/£250 for something that i could build myself for far less money, albeit undoubtedly in a bigger size.

I thought the same but while for £150 I could just about buy the parts I really couldn't get close the the aesthetics, mine has officially passed the girfriend inspection which is rare for any piece of technology I bring into the hourse!
